CPANEL ACCESS

Your hosting control panel

cPanel gives you access to the tools behind your website and email account.

1

Open cPanel

In your web browser, enter your domain name followed by /cpanel — for example, yourdomain.com.au/cpanel.

2

Enter the cPanel username and password supplied in your HostingServicesWA Welcome Email. Your cPanel password is case-sensitive.

3

Find the tools you need

From cPanel you can create and manage email accounts, access File Manager, check disk usage, change passwords and use other hosting features. Most customers only need a small number of these tools.

Tip: Keep your Welcome Email secure. It contains the master login details for your hosting account.

Change an email password

  1. Log in to cPanel using your hosting account login.
  2. Open Email Accounts and choose Manage beside the mailbox you want to update.
  3. Enter a new, strong password in the security settings, then select Update Email Settings.
  4. Update the saved password in the email app on each computer, phone or tablet that uses that mailbox. Test sending and receiving afterwards.
Your mailbox password is separate from your cPanel password. If you cannot sign in to cPanel, contact me for help. Button names may vary slightly between cPanel versions.

Check your storage usage

When you first log in to cPanel, look for Statistics on the right-hand side. The Disk Usage figure gives you an overall picture of how much of your hosting storage is used and how much is available. On smaller screens, this panel may appear further down the page.

For a more detailed breakdown of what is using the space, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to cPanel and open Disk Usage to see which parts of your hosting account are using space.
  2. Open Email Accounts to review the storage used by each mailbox and its individual quota.
  3. Allow space for both your website and server-stored email. Increasing a mailbox quota does not increase your overall hosting plan allowance.
  4. If space is getting tight, contact me to discuss housekeeping or a larger plan.
Before deleting: Keep a separate copy of anything you need. With IMAP, deleting messages can also remove them from your other connected devices. Ask for advice if you are unsure.
